The Little Match Girl
By AUTHOR | Illustrated by ILLUSTRATOR

On a cold New Year’s Eve, a poor girl tries to sell matches in the street. She is freezing badly, but can’t go home because she hasn’t sold any matches all day long. She takes shelter and lights the matches to warm herself. In their glow, she sees several lovely visions including a Christmas tree and a holiday feast. She strikes one match after another to keep the vision of her grandmother, and the warmth of matches themselves, for as long as she can.
A truly classic Hans Christian Andersen tale, not meant for the youngest of readers.
